Terry Brown

I grew up in Akron, Ohio, then went to art school at Cooper School of Art in Cleveland, Ohio. I moved to Silicon Valley (San Jose, Ca) in the mid '80s and worked for companies such as Apple Computer, Adobe Systems, Quark and others. Now, I'm living in the beautiful "wine country" that is an hour north of San Francisco and trying to balance out my life by including a lot more time devoted to fine art.

I am primarily a figurative artist working in a variety of mediums. These include oils, acrylics, watercolor, and a wide selection of mixed materials. In most cases, I start my pieces working from a model (rather than a photo) in order to get a strong sense of the environment and emotions within and around the figure. I will then follow up later working with other materials to bring out or infuse a greater sense of what I had initially felt or perceived.

I love art to the very core of my being. It’s primal. I create because I must.
